Truer words never spoken. But Trumpism sees it (guilt) backwards … perhaps because they realize the truth, but it doesn’t set THEM free from their bigotry?
Someone told me that Trump now intends to sign the MOU with Iran - not on Friday - but today,
— for fear there wd be association with Juneteenth & Iranian freedom. 🙄
I've been reading in a couple books I have here from the film criticism works of Pauline Kael. Both published by Library of America, one compiling the best of Pauline Kael, the other featuring best film criticism by many, many including several of hers.
One of her favorite themes is orthodoxy, and for this she often focuses on how schools, academia, teachers often represent our impulses to be good, normal, conventional. Film studios, marketers, publicists, directors, and others have often tilted to these impulses. So her genius likely best rose in defense of spontaneity, and in honor of those actors, directors, cinematographers, and others more directly in touch with what I guess we could call the American vernacular.
