As the CINC, it's obvious that he knows nothing of the standards of decorum. Wearing cover inside is against regs. Always has been. Everybody knows that. Someone should have reminded him to take that cover off his head as soon as he entered the building. Or slapped it off his head to enforce it. He's not fit for duty if he persists in ignoring the very simplest things. I demand he be removed from office!... Or I'll slap that damn stupid red hat off my damn self...

(cranky old man yelling at clouds)

I hear you, Mike! I’m ready to assist with the slapping!!!

The funny thing is, autocratics--and their minions--have no sense of humor. They are always offended, always jockeying for power, always unhappy people with no capacity for laughing at themselves (fearing someone might think they are weak, or worse ... humble). So, as well-noted in this post, Trump is never joking when he attempts a joke. He is testing the waters, floating his intentions, mocking cultural norms ... telling us he expects us to laugh and go-along with his next autocratic con.

Not to mention scant self-awareness.....

So massively true. So predictable. His deployment of ICE against immigrants sets the precedent of his ordering the police state into cities and states at will. I think with his interference in structures and monuments, we can only expect a new or modified Mount Rushmore. God save America.

Phil Balla's avatar

Hey, Max, need we say just "ICE," adjective-unqualified?

How about ICE death squads? ICE terror units? ICE as murderously devolved from the Oath Keepers, Three Percenters, and Proud Boys?

Or ICE as allied with the U.S. bombs that killed the 168 Iranian schoolgirls in Minab, the hundreds of poor fishermen off the coast of Venezuela, the targets of U.S. arms on the West Bank and more bombs, missiles, and expanded murder in Gaza, and the U.S. cities of criminal Donald's cold-blooded home murder sprees?

Assume the worst: he runs again. Assume he does what he needs to do in order to win. Assume he takes office for a third term. What will America be like in 2032, when he's 86?

Phil Balla's avatar

He needn't "run," roberto -- just declare more "emergencies."

The Burnhams's avatar

He'll never live that long. Here's hoping........

I've stated before, Trump tells of his crimes or soon to be crimes through an understated or thinking out loud comment causing the intent to be missed or go unrecognized. When speaking of Epstein he mentioned Epstein's preference for young girls, then in a thinking out loud manner said "of course I do too" that almost no one noticed.

During an interview just after his first inauguration he was already claiming to be the best president this country ever had. This within hours of being sworn in. This defines a future problem. Within the same interview while speculating over a third possible term he threaten his supporters would never allow anyone to remove him from office. He planned to remain permanently in office. A solid determination spoken lightly and missed by most. Never called out, and it became a real threat.

Thanks for keeping us all aware of his behavior. Hopefully we can all celebrate his passing, before he ever gets to do anything else.

Thank you for this great essay, Michael ❣️ Indeed, Trump and his ‘jokes’ deserve more than nervous laughter… I could recommend several ideas…an axe 🪓 or two, some swords ⚔️, knives 🔪… dull, rusty, archaic…who cares. Just knives 🗡️ of every kind. I just had a total knee replacement surgery, which hurts like hell (fyi)…the idea of transferring my pain to Trump and ilk holds a LOT of appeal. So yes, I think Trump is deserving of pain and difficulty…like everyone else!!! Nervous laughter doesn’t fill the bill for me. Never did!

Is He Dead, Yet???

LSW's avatar

I ask that question every morning. Still the answer is nope. Sigh and 🤮

My thought every night I go to bed, every morning I wake up!

The answer is "almost." Internally; absolutely....totally!

His son will be a party nominee, I have no doubt. Of which party, who knows. Depends on how successful a disruptive brand new party could be vs an installation in an established one.

I have never thought Trump to be clever or funny. His narcissistic personality is dangerous to us all. He only jokes to demean others. Hopefully he's too physically ill (and most probably has dementia) to be alive to actually run unless others prop up his body with artificial means.

Sadly, this is already happening....thanks to Allderal.
